BGM to Develop New Docudrama – Cleared for Chaos: 9/11

News April 10, 2018

Bristow Global Media (BGM) has started development on new docudrama Cleared for Chaos: 9/11 (2×60’), the gripping story of how Air Traffic Controllers in the small Canadian town of Gander in Newfoundland pulled off the impossible on September 11, 2001.  The special is being distributed internationally by TCB Media Rights starting at Miptv 2018.   Cleared for Chaos: 9/11 is being developed for Bell Media’s Discovery Networks in Canada, with plans to begin shooting in Gander in September.

4,500 planes are in the air over North America when a second jet strikes the Twin Towers of the World Trade Center on September 11, 2001. A third jet slams into the Pentagon. Dick Cheney gives the order to clear the skies. At that very moment, 400 planes are westbound toward the US across the Atlantic. 167 are past the point of no return and must land immediately. …What happens next depends on the actions of a bunch air traffic controllers in a small town at the edge of the North Atlantic.

Cleared for Chaos:9/11 is being developed by BGM’s development team of President Julie Bristow, VP Content Marlo Miazga and VP Development Sean Connolly.

“‘This is an extraordinary, never before told story of how a small group of reluctant hero’s managed to get hundreds of international planes and thousands of passengers to safety as the chaos of 9/11 reigned down on the world,” said Julie Bristow.

“The combination of the perils of air travel on this extraordinary day and the unbelievable stress on the air traffic controllers makes this a harrowing journey. This will make a compelling pilot and the precursor to a long running series,” said Paul Heaney, CEO TCB Media Rights.
Most recently, BGM, which specializes in creating multiplatform short and long form content across all genres, won a Canadian Screen Award (CSA) in partnership with Secret Location for the VR work on the BGM produced Canada: The Story of US. They have also entered into a partnership agreement with Relish Interactive on the creation of short form animated graphic novels for the upcoming 100 Days to Victory a gripping docudrama, co-produced with Electric Pictures, Corus Entertainment’s HISTORY® in Canada and Foxtel’s The History Channel in Australia and New Zealand, as well as BBC Scotland. They are also in production with the non-fiction paranormal series, Haunted Hospitals for Blue Ant Media’s T+E channel in Canada.
