Marlo Miazga has been collaborating with some of the leading voices in Canadian television for 25 years. Before launching Newroad Media in 2011, Marlo worked as an editor, series producer and creator of both dramatic and factual television. She has also spent the last decade as a resident mentor with the Canadian Film Centre.
As a graduate of McGill University and the prestigious Canadian Film Centre, Marlo launched her career as a film editor. Some of her notable credits include: Peter Wintonicks’ multiple award winning NFB feature, Cinema Verite: The Defining Moment; Paul Fox’s psychological feature thriller, The Dark Hours; CBC Comedian Rick Mercer’s five-part series, Tuning In and Greig Dymonds’ comedy series for CBC, Jimmy MacDonald’s Canada.
Marlo soon moved her edit suite skills into development and production. She has built a reputation for creating and producing television that draws on her deep roots in factual and drama. Marlo created, series produced and executive produced the docudrama Curious and Unusual Deaths for Discovery Channel Canada, and A&E UK where it has been a rating’s hit. Curious and Unusual Deaths season 1 and 2 is now airing in over 200 territories. In 2013 Marlo co-created, series produced and executive produced Close Encounters for Discovery Channel and Science U.S. Marlo assembled a cast of Canada’s top talent to produce the series including a multi-award winning dramatic production and VFX team. Once again the series sold to over 200 territories worldwide where it continues to broadcast. Most recently, Marlo joined Bristow Global Media as Co- Executive Producer on their international format – “Canada: The Story of Us”. A 10 part docudrama series, broadcasting on CBC in 2017.
